How to have your Amazon Ads agent call your distributor
Can an AI agent call my distributor for me?
Yes. Connect two MCP servers to the same AI client, such as Claude, ChatGPT or Claude Code: one that reads your Amazon data and one that places phone calls. The agent checks which products are running low and still spending on ads, drafts a call brief with your purchase order details, and waits for your approval. The calling service then phones your distributor, and you review the outcome and any transcript before deciding what to do with your ads.

When a call is worth making
You started a brand to build a product, not to chase ship dates. But some answers only come from a phone call:
- Stock is running low and your ads are still spending. If the next shipment is three weeks out, you may want to pull budget before you sell out and lose ranking. If it ships Friday, you keep spending.
- A purchase order's ship date is a guess. The email thread went quiet and the date you were promised has passed.
- A shipment hasn't moved. Your forwarder or 3PL knows where it is; Amazon doesn't yet.
Each of these is a five-minute call that sits on your to-do list for days. An agent with your Amazon data and a phone can make it the same morning you notice the problem.
How it works
- Connect your Amazon data. Connect Amazon Ads and Seller Central to Marketplace Ad Pros, then add its MCP server to Claude, ChatGPT or Claude Code.
- Add a phone-calling MCP server. Add a calling provider such as call4me, Vapi Agent Phone or Bland to the same AI client and sign in.
- Ask, approve, review. Ask the agent which products need a call, approve the call brief and the call itself, then review the outcome and any transcript.
The two servers don't talk to each other. Your AI client is the one reading your inventory from one and handing a brief to the other, which is why you approve the call in your client before anything is dialed.
Setup varies by client. Claude and ChatGPT add servers as custom connectors, and the plans that allow custom connectors change from time to time; Claude Code and Cursor add them from their MCP settings. Each provider's setup guide is linked below.
A worked example: the distributor call
Amazon knows your stock and sales. It doesn't know your distributor's phone number, your PO number or what date they promised. Put those in the prompt:
Using my Seller Central data, find SKUs where fulfillable FBA stock divided by average daily units sold over the last 30 days is under 21 days, and show the ad spend on each over the last 7 days. Include anything already inbound to Amazon. Flag any SKU you can't match between inventory and ads.
For the SKUs that come from Acme Distribution, draft a call brief for (555) 010-0199. We're Northfield Goods. Ask about PO 4471, which was promised to ship October 10: has it shipped, and if not, what is the new ship date, and can they ship part of it this week? Ask them to confirm the date by email. Say you are an AI assistant calling for Northfield Goods. Don't agree to price, quantity or payment changes. If voicemail picks up, leave a short message asking for a callback by email. If they ask to verify an account or payment details, end the call. Keep it under 15 minutes. Show me the brief before placing the call.
A good agent comes back with the SKUs, the estimated days of cover and spend for each, and a brief like this:
Call to Acme Distribution, (555) 010-0199. Calling for Northfield Goods about PO 4471 (promised ship date October 10). Questions: 1) Has PO 4471 shipped? 2) If not, what is the new ship date? 3) Can a partial shipment go out this week? 4) Please confirm by email. Limits: no changes to price, quantity or payment; end the call if asked to verify account or payment details; 15 minutes maximum.
That brief is an example, not a real call. Approve it, the calling service makes the call, and the agent reports back. If the new date is three weeks out, ask it to show which campaigns are spending on those SKUs so you can pull back budget before you run out.
A few things the example handles on purpose:
- Days of cover is an estimate. Inventory data gives quantities, not days. The prompt names the sales window.
- FBA stock isn't all your stock. Stock in Amazon Warehousing and Distribution (AWD) and stock you ship yourself are counted separately; ask for them if you use them.
- This is Seller Central. Vendor Central inventory comes from reports, so the same prompt needs adapting for 1P brands.
Other calls your agent can make
- Freight forwarder: where a container or pallet is, and when it will be delivered to the Amazon warehouse.
- Prep center or 3PL: when your stock will be labeled and ready to send to FBA.
- Manufacturer: current lead time on a reorder, before you commit to a launch date or a Prime Day budget.
Each follows the same pattern: the agent supplies the Amazon side, you supply the contact and the reference number, and you approve the call.
Top 5 AI call providers
Each of these has an MCP server that lets an AI assistant place a real outbound phone call. They're ordered by how much setup they take, not ranked by quality. The first two are ready-to-call services: sign in and ask for a call. The last three are voice-agent platforms: more control, but you set up an agent or a phone number first.
| Provider | Type | How it connects | Pricing (checked Oct 14, 2026) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| call4me | Ready-to-call | Hosted MCP, sign in with OAuth | $0.25/min from pickup, $0.125/min on hold, credits from $10 | One-off calls from Claude or ChatGPT |
| Vapi Agent Phone | Ready-to-call | Hosted MCP, browser sign-in | Not published | Calls from Claude Code or Cursor with no account setup |
| Bland | Voice-agent platform | Official hosted MCP, OAuth or API key | $0.14/min (Start), $0.12/min + $299/mo (Build) | Repeat calls with a reusable script |
| Retell AI | Voice-agent platform | Official remote MCP, API key | $0.07-$0.31/min, numbers $2/mo | Teams already building voice agents |
| ElevenLabs | Voice-agent platform | Official MCP, plus an agent and a phone number | Depends on plan | Teams already using ElevenLabs voices |
1. call4me
call4me is built for exactly this: your assistant briefs the call, a voice caller handles the conversation, including phone menus and hold music, and the outcome, transcript and recording come back. It connects to Claude as a custom connector and publishes guides for ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex and Cursor. Pricing is $0.25 a minute from pickup and half that on hold, prepaid from $10; monthly reload is on by default, so untick it if you only want a top-up. Calls are recorded, and the caller says it is an AI only if asked, so put that in your brief. Set a maximum call length: a call still on hold at the limit keeps waiting while you have credit.
2. Vapi Agent Phone
Vapi Agent Phone is a ready-to-use calling service from Vapi, separate from its developer platform. You add it as a remote MCP server, sign in once in the browser, and the agent gets a tool to place a call and one to check its result. No Vapi API key, dashboard or phone number is needed. Vapi doesn't publish pricing or limits for it, so check before you rely on it for volume.
3. Bland
Bland is a voice-agent platform with an official hosted MCP server. ChatGPT, Claude and Claude Code can sign in with Bland directly; other clients use an API key. Its call tool requires an explicit confirmation before it dials, which is the right default. Talk time is $0.14 a minute on the Start plan and $0.12 on Build ($299 a month). Choose it when you want to reuse the same call script every week.
4. Retell AI
Retell AI runs an official remote MCP server that exposes its whole voice-agent API, including outbound phone calls, to Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex and Cursor with an API key. Pay-as-you-go pricing runs $0.07 to $0.31 a minute depending on the voice and AI model, plus $2 a month for a Retell phone number. It suits teams that already build voice agents; for an occasional distributor call, the ready-to-call services are less work.
5. ElevenLabs
ElevenLabs is known for its voices. Its official MCP server can place outbound calls through an ElevenLabs agent, which needs a phone number connected through Twilio or a SIP trunk first. Pricing depends on your ElevenLabs plan and the AI model. It's the most setup of the five; pick it if you already use ElevenLabs.
Guardrails before your agent dials
- Approve every call. Approve the brief and the decision to place the call. Your Amazon data connection being read-only doesn't limit what a calling service can do.
- Information only. No orders, payments, price or quantity changes, or anything that commits your company.
- Say who's calling. Tell the caller to introduce itself as an AI assistant calling for your company.
- Recording and consent. Many states and countries require consent to record a call, and US rules treat AI-generated voices as artificial voices. Call suppliers you already work with, on their business lines.
- Cap the cost. Set a maximum length and decide what happens on voicemail or a long hold.
- Get it in writing. Treat what you hear as an update to verify, and ask for an email confirmation.
Where Marketplace Ad Pros fits
Marketplace Ad Pros is the Amazon half of this setup. It connects your Amazon Ads, Seller Central and Vendor Central data to Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client, so the agent can see inventory, inbound shipments to Amazon, sales and ad spend in one conversation. It is read-only by default and doesn't make calls; the calling provider you choose does.
Three steps: connect your accounts free, tell Claude what you're worried about running out of, and approve the calls worth making. Connect your Amazon accounts free; two weeks of the Launch plan is $20 when you want recommendations on top. For more inventory prompts, see the Seller & Vendor Central prompt library.
Frequently asked questions
Can Claude make phone calls?
Yes, with a phone-calling MCP server connected. Claude does not dial on its own: services such as call4me, Vapi Agent Phone and Bland add a tool Claude can use to place a call, then report back what happened. You connect the service in Claude's connector or MCP settings and approve each call.
Can ChatGPT make phone calls for me?
It can when your ChatGPT plan supports custom MCP connectors and you add a phone-calling service. Bland documents sign-in from ChatGPT directly, and call4me publishes a ChatGPT setup guide. Check the provider's current instructions, because connector support differs by plan and changes often.
Does Marketplace Ad Pros make the phone call?
No. Marketplace Ad Pros connects your Amazon Ads and Seller Central data to your AI client, so the agent knows which products are running low and what they are spending. A separate phone-calling service places the call. Marketplace Ad Pros is read-only by default, and that setting does not control another service's calls.
How much does an AI phone call to a supplier cost?
Roughly $0.07 to $0.31 a minute. On October 14, 2026, call4me charged $0.25 a minute from pickup and half that while on hold, Bland's Start plan charged $0.14 a minute of talk time, and Retell AI listed $0.07 to $0.31 a minute depending on the voice and model. A ten-minute call costs a few dollars at most.
Can an AI agent call Amazon Seller Support?
Not in a useful way. Seller Support works through cases opened in Seller Central, with a callback you request there. Use your agent to write the case summary and gather order IDs, ASINs and dates, then open the case yourself.
Is it legal to have an AI call my supplier?
It depends on where you and the supplier are and how the call is made. In the US, the FCC treats AI-generated voices as artificial voices under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and many states and countries require consent to record a call. Calling a supplier you already work with on their business line is the lowest-risk case. Have the caller say it is an AI assistant calling for your company, and check with counsel if you are unsure.
